A Great Season for The Go Ahead Eagles Special Eredivisie Team
The Special Eredivisie team of Go Ahead Eagles closed the competition on May 5 with a tournament in the stadium of VVV-Venlo. For a number of players, this was their last appearance for Go Ahead Eagles. After the summer, a largely new team is in the pipeline to make their dream of playing for Go Ahead Eagles a reality.
All the players of the team have enjoyed a great season. It started with the traditional signing of a contract and the photo session in the stadium. After this, the players and parents were given a nice tour of De Adelaarshorst. There were rounds of matches at Excelsior, Ajax, sc Heerenveen and VVV-Venlo. The trip to these away games were all made with the real players’ bus. But the highlight was the home game in their own stadium De Adelaarshorst on Sunday 14 April. Full of pride, the players entered the field to enjoy an unforgettable day with their families, acquaintances, classmates and players from their own clubs in the stands. The three matches against FC Groningen, FC Emmen and AZ were all won.
Although winning in the Special Eredivisie is not the most important thing. Playing football together and having fun like a ‘real’ professional in a beautiful stadium is much more important. Furthermore, the team played a friendly match against Heracles in the Erve Asito and there was a nice futsal tournament at PEC Zwolle in January.
