FC Shakhtar’s “Come On, Let’s Play!”: Lviv side celebrate their success
On May 14, the decisive matches of the final tournament as part of Come On, Let’s Play! grassroots football project took place in Schaslyve, a village of Boryspil Raion, Kiev Oblast that borders Kiev city.
Following the group stage, held on Saturday, teams in two age categories hold prize-winning matches. So, Sportresurs secured a win in the U10 group. In the final, the Lviv side beat Kramatorsk-based Strela by the score of 4-1. In the third-spot decider, Donetsk-based Donbas claimed a 3-0 victory over Pobeda (Kurakhove).
“We are happy to win” – shared his experiences Oleksii Bosenko from Sportresurs. “I came to the project two years ago. I myself come from Donetsk, but later we moved to Lviv. I really enjoy playing football!”
Yaroslav Zapovskyi from Sportresurs grabbed the man of the tournament award. The top goalkeeper award secured Artem Potapov (Strela). People’s choice award went to Pobeda’s young goalkeeper Ivan Piven.
In the U12 age category, Kvadrat lifted the silverware. In the final, the Lviv side defeated Kramatorsk-based Black Star (3-2). Adrenalin players won bronze medals: the team from Kramatorsk was stronger than Severodonetsk-based Proryv (3-0).
“I liked everything” admitted U12 best player Ostap Chyzho from Kvadrat. “It was not easy, but we won. I scored a total of six goals in the tournament. It’s nice that I got the prize. In the future, I really want to play for the Pitmen!”
The top goalkeeper of the tournament in the U12 group turned out Artem Striletskyi from Adrenalin.
Shakhtar footballers Taras Stepanenko and Maksym Malyshev presented memorable prizes to all those participated in the finals, as the winners were handed a beautiful cup.
This is a really grand event for the guys, Taras Stepanenko said. “They received a lot of emotions and nice gifts. I’m sure young players will remember this tournament for a long time. I will add that I gladly agreed to come to the finals. I was also charged with positive impressions!”
“I want to congratulate all the boys on this event, wish them to keep on playing football, root for Shakhtar and always smile!” said Maksym Malyshev.
By way of reminder, Come On, Let’s Play! grassroots football project kicked off in Donetsk in 2013. Over the past five years, the total number of children involved has reached 2,180. Weekly, they conduct 90 training sessions on the pitches in six Ukrainian cities.
