4th Edition EFDN Special Champions League coming up!
The 4th edition of the EFDN Special Champions League is scheduled to occur in Ghent, Belgium, from October 4th to 6th. This event is designed to provide a safe and inclusive environment for young people with intellectual disabilities to play football, showcase their skills, and socialize.
Since its introduction, the Special Champions League has aimed to promote inclusion and integration within society through socialization and physical activities. Participants have the opportunity to improve their physical health, meet new people, and enjoy a fun, supportive atmosphere. The project has successfully hosted events in Breda, Lisbon, and Leverkusen, and this year’s edition is expected to be one of the largest yet.
The tournament will feature teams from 9 (nine) different European countries, including both male and female players. The participating teams are:
- Fundacao Benfica Lisbon (Portugal)
- Bayer 04 Leverkusen (Germany)
- Fundacion Alcoraz Huesca (Spain)
- KAS Eupen (Belgium)
- Fundacion Levante (Spain)
- NEC Nijmegen (Netherlands)
- Werder Bremen (Germany)
- NAC Breda (Netherlands)
- SV Zulte-Waregem (Belgium)
- KV Mechelen (Belgium)
- Special Devils & Flame A, B, C (Belgium)
- Special Olympics Luxembourg
- Special Olympics France
- Special Olympics Denmark
- Special Olympics Poland
Additionally, more teams are expected to be announced soon.
The goal of this event is to promote inclusion and increase integration within society through socialization and physical activities. As a result, participants will improve their physical health as well as meet people/ socialize and have fun.
