4 MORE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE 17TH EFDN CONFERENCE IN LIVERPOOL

The European Football for Development Network (EFDN) will host its 17th EFDN ‘#Morethanfootball’ Conference as from 09-11 May 2022 in the home city of two EFDN members in Liverpool on the 9th and 10th of May 2022. EFDN members Liverpool FC and Everton FC will host the Conference in Anfield and Goodison Park. 

This conference is the perfect platform for organisations of all shapes and sizes to share ideas and develop new concepts. EFDN is excited to meet its members and partners again in person at the largest gathering of Community and Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance( ESG) experts in European professional football. SARAH MEDCALF – NEWCASTLE UNITED FOUNDATION

Sarah Medcalf, Deputy Head of Foundation at Newcastle United Foundation, is the next confirmed speaker at our 17th EFDN #Morethanfootball Conference in Liverpool on 9 & 11 May 2022.

With thirteen years of C-level experience in the charity sector and nine years in commercial sales and marketing roles, Sarah has a proven track record in providing leadership to deliver organisational growth, people management and collaborative stakeholder relations at the highest level.

She led the Project Team that successfully delivered the £8 million community hub NUCASTLE which opened in March 2022 securing capital investment, managing the construction phase and implementing a resource plan for 160 Foundation staff. She currently holds a Non-Executive Director position and trustee of Concern Group, a national charity with headquarters located in the North East which provides specialist mental health services to its beneficiaries.Newcastle United Foundation’s state-of-the-art facility NUCASTLE, powered by Newcastle Building Society, opened in March 2022 following its official opening event attended by NUFC legend Shola Ameobi, NUFC Manager Eddie Howe, key partners and the local community.
Just a five-minute walk from St James’ Park, this £8million facility with a rooftop pitch is the Foundation’s new home and is set to serve thousands of children, young people, adults and elderly residents from across the North-East of England.

CHARLOTTE STRECK – FOOTBALL4FORESTS

Charlotte Streck, the founder of Football4Forests, is the next confirmed speaker at our 17th EFDN #Morethanfootball Conference in Liverpool on 9 & 11 May 2022.

Prof. Dr. Charlotte Streck is co-founder of Football4Forest and director of the think tank Climate Focus. Charlotte serves as a strategic advisor to numerous governments, private companies, foundations, and non-for-profit organizations on climate investments, forestry, agriculture and food systems. Charlotte is an avid football fan and, looking for innovative ways to support conservation and forest restoration, has founded Football4Forest to harness the enthusiasm of football fans for forest restoration. Charlotte Streck serves on several advisories, and investment panels is a former lead counsel for climate change with the Center for International Sustainable Development Law with McGill University and a former Chair of the Board of the Climate Strategies research network..  

The presentation will give you an introduction to Football4Forests: it will explain the objectives, motivation, and tools. We will present the F4F app, describe the financing model and take you to a tour to the Colombian rainforest. There, in the Colombian region of Caquetá, our partners of Tiempo de Juego will take the ball and score a point for nature. 


JAMES ATKINS – FOOTBALL4FORESTS

James Atkins, the founder of Football4Forests, is the next confirmed speaker at our 17th EFDN #Morethanfootball Conference in Liverpool on 9 & 11 May 2022.

James Atkins is co-founder of Football4Forest and director of Planet Super League. Over the last 20 years, he has been Chairman of Vertis Environmental Finance, an emissions trading company he set up in 1998, which grew to be one of the largest players in the sector. He is also the initiator of several other ventures and initiatives tackling climate change and restoring natural biodiversity. He is the author of a book, Climate Change for Football Fans, which is a critique of climate change policy written in a fun style.

James’s football career started as the goalkeeper for Kirkby Lonsdale cub-scouts team in 1977 and finished in 1977.

DANIEL LAMBERT – THE BOHEMIAN FOOTBALL CLUB

Daniel Lambert, Chief Operating Officer at The Bohemian Football Club, is the next confirmed speaker at our 17th EFDN #Morethanfootball Conference in Liverpool on 9 & 11 May 2022.

Daniel Lambert is Chief Operating Officer at The Bohemian Football Club

He served on the board of Bohemian FC from 2011-2020 covering Marketing and Commercial portfolio. he was appointed as the club’s first COO in 2020. Prior to this, he worked for the Irish government as a diplomat at the United Nations, he also co-owns a coffee shop in Dublin with his sister, and manages an Irish rap group Kneeecap. He is a lifelong supporter of Bohemian FC and lives directly beside the stadium.

”Through core club values, our clubs own attributes and a strong social conscience on issues that affect Dublin, but also impact people much further afield, we have worked with partners to produce football shirts that have a global message but deliver local change. By developing partnerships across all stakeholders that have these values at their core we have willing engagement with commercial partners, fans, and bodies to deliver social outreach projects.”
