2nd SAVES Project Meeting held in Salford, England
The 2nd project meeting of the Erasmus+ project SAVES (Safeguarding Advancement in European Sport) successfully took place in England, Salford. Foundation 92 have hosted the rest of the consortium, including EFDN, Fundacion Alcoraz, KAA Gent, Athletic Club, Roda JC and Feyenoord Rotterdam at Moor Lane (The Peninsula Stadium).
The SAVES project aims to increase the current level of safeguarding across European sport, and football in particular. Not only will project partners have the chance to improve upon their own provision, but critically, all sport organisations are invited to participate in the project through various opportunities for involvement such as training webinars and conferences. Moreover, the project aims to provide resources such as a self-assessment tool to allow organisations to critically reflect on their own initiatives and act upon suggestions for improvement.
This was the first in-person meeting between the project partners, allowing the partners to collaborate on a more close level, pushing the SAVES project further ahead. Across the two days, the consortium was able to discuss in detail the progress of the project as a whole, and in particular the implementation, which will start next year onwards. Specifically Foundation 92 and Athletic Club were able to host some interactive sessions around the topic of safeguarding, allowing for a greater understanding of the concept across the consortium, and thus already achieving the first impact of the project as some of the project partners managed to get a better understanding of safeguarding as a whole!
Moreover, the SAVES consortium is also happy to announce that they will be able to participate at the upcoming EFDN conference, where the concept of safeguarding will be introduced, the project overview presented, and an interactive workshop hosted, available to conference participants. Not only will sport organisations have the chance to learn about the basics of safeguarding, but they will also be able to learn more about the SAVES project.
Critically, in the next two years, across 5 different months, the SAVES consortium will host safeguarding training available to all those interested in the topic in order to learn more about safeguarding and receive information on how they can improve their own safeguarding provision. If interested in the trainings, make sure to reach out to p.reissner@efdn.org to learn more about these unique training opportunities.
