Volunteers with a disability assists during match days of Werder Bremen
At the Bundesliga prelude against Hannover 96, SV Werder Bremen started their new inclusive volunteer programme. This new project proves that the inclusion of people with a disability is not only in the sport activities of the club but at all levels everywhere on all levels of SV Werder Bremen.
They stand at the VIP entrances, help in the media lounge and in the marketing area: you can find the new volunteers all over the place. Without them, it would not be possible to organise the hospitality of a home match. During last years season, the club ran a pilot programme in which a small number of volunteers with a disability already worked on several match days. They did an amazing job and this convinced everyone in the club that it is important to provide people with a disability that want to volunteer at the club should have the same opportunities as people without a disability. As a result, the new inclusive volunteer programme started at the match against Hannover 96 and throughout the whole season, volunteers with a disability will be present in different areas and will help guests with advice and assistance.
Promoting inclusion
The project started with 13 volunteers with a disability who supported the club in the VIP area and distributed the line ups of the teams and making sure that everything ran smoothly in the press lounge. Michael Arends, of Werder’s CSR brand WERDER, emphasized:
“We are very proud that we are able to promote inclusion in all levels of the club”
The inclusive volunteer programme is possible due to the cooperation with Matrinshof Bremen, the recruitment agency PENSUM and SV Werder Bremen.
