11th Run Against the Right: Almost 2,000 Runners set an important example
In light rain, almost 2,000 runners covered the more than seven kilometers and sent an important signal against fascism, racism, anti-Semitism, anti-gypsyism and right-wing populism during this run organised for the 11th time by FC St Pauli.
Just before the start, Anke Kleinemeier from the marathon department told all the runners:
“Have fun and have a good run against the Right. The run was only approved at the beginning of May and so it was an organisational challenge, but we managed it. It’s just a great sign that so many people took part here today despite the weather and the run being scheduled at short notice.”
In total, almost 3,000 runners had registered for the 11th Run Against the Right, about 2,000 had taken part in the run around the Alster on Sunday morning, all the others had taken part in a decentralised way, and had already run against the Right in May. The time they ran – whether at home or around the Alster, where the fastest were well under 30 minutes – was not the most important thing. What was important was the sign that all runners set against fascism, racism, anti-Semitism, antiziganism and right-wing populism.
