Paris Saint-Germain Foundation
Aware of the power that sport and the club have on the lives of young people of Paris and its region, Paris Saint-Germain decided to engage in Community and Social Responsibility by setting up its own Foundation in 2000. Paris Saint-Germain Foundation is the first of its kind to be created by a French club and, since the start, has been running initiatives to help children and young people.
Paris Saint-Germain Foundation’s 3 key priorities are:
- Helping young people find their place in society and the world of work;
- Reaching out to children in underprivileged neighbourhoods;
- Bringing comfort to sick children.
HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE FIND THEIR PLACE IN SOCIETY & THE WORLD OF WORK – The Foundation has built its action programme on helping young adults reach social and professional inclusion. These young people are given training for 2 to 5 years – leading to qualifications – in social, educational and sporting care, and can pass on their experience to the next generation.
REACHING OUT TO CHILDREN IN UNDERPRIVILEGED NEIGHBOURHOODS – The Foundation’s educators work out in the field and implement targeted programmes such as “Go Girls!”, “Children’s Day”, and ” PSG Holidays”… The Foundation has taken on a new dimension with the opening of the RED & BLUE School, an innovative after-school programme which combines sports, educational and cultural activities, to help children develop and accompany them towards success.
BRINGING COMFORT TO SICK CHILDREN – Every season, the professional players of Paris Saint-Germain’s 3 teams visit hospitals in the greater Paris area. The kids are also invited to come and meet them at the stadium and the training centre. These events are eagerly awaited and bring a lot of comfort to the children in difficult times, thanks to the players’ commitment. The Foundation works in cooperation with Necker Hospital for Sick Children, its partner, and with a number of specialised associations.
These initiatives reflect the values of a responsible and socially committed club, which uses sport as a driving force to engage with the younger generation.
“Over 200,000 children have received support through Paris Saint-Germain Foundation’s educational and sports programmes. Our aim is for the Foundation to continue growing and to reach out to more and more children, inspiring them, giving them the desire and the means to succeed.” Christine Le Gal, Director of Paris Saint- Germain Foundation
