Aris Limassol FC, one of Cyprus’ oldest football clubs, is renowned for its strong commitment to sustainability and community support. The club leads various initiatives focused on environmental conservation, animal welfare, and social welfare, actively engaging fans and partners in these efforts. Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, Aris Limassol FC prioritises waste reduction, promotes recycling, and provides support to vulnerable populations, leveraging the platform of football to drive positive change.
With a mission centered on excelling in football while championing sustainability and social responsibility, Aris Limassol FC strives to make a meaningful impact on the environment and support those in need. The club’s vision is to be a leader in both football and social impact, inspiring future generations through a steadfast dedication to sustainability and community care.
In the past year, Aris Limassol FC organised three community cleanup events in partnership with City Friends Club, including a joint cleanup with Real Betis Balompié during a Europa League match. These events gathered over 360 participants, including players, club staff, academy members, fans, and partners. Together, they collected 400 bags of general waste, 121 bags of PMD, and 350 kg of bulky waste.
Another unique project in Cyprus include the only football programme for children with autism, offering weekly football lessons, and organising football academies in Cypriot villages with limited access to sports facilities. Over 80 children are having football lessons free of charge in the Kalavasos village, while Aris FC also plans to establish similar academies in villages near Pissouri (54 children) and Agros (56 children). Remaining true to their initial mission of supporting vulnerable populations, the owners of Aris Limassol FC sponsor the “Aris Social Care Foundation.” The foundation was established in December 2022 by its president, Dr. Nikos Zamboglou, and operates under the umbrella of the Aris Union and the German Oncology Center.
Aris Limassol FC is interested in joining the European Football for Development Network (EFDN) to enhance its efforts in using football as a vehicle for positive change. As an organization committed to sustainability, community support, and assisting those in need, FC Aris sees value in collaborating with other European clubs through EFDN membership. By sharing its successful community support initiatives, the club aims to inspire other organizations while contributing to collaborative projects focused on environmental and social welfare. The foundation provides social care and support services to patients from all over Cyprus and these services are provided both during and after treatment
Aris Limassol FC is prepared to assist in developing strategies that engage fans in social initiatives and is open to hosting workshops to raise awareness about key social issues, sharing insights and best practices from its own experiences. Furthermore, the club hopes to contribute fresh perspectives to the network, supporting EFDN’s mission with creative approaches to social programmes.
