EFDN Walking Football Conference
“Getting Active, Healthy & Socially Engaged”
On 20th of September 2017, in the framework of the European Legends Walking Football Tournament, EFDN is hosting the Walking Football Conference at the iconic Dutch national sporting centre Papendal. An event devoted to broadening the reach of the Walking Football & Walking Sports methodology across Europe.
All of us are growing increasingly older, which makes it necessary to think of new, smart solutions to enhance the quality of life. Since beginning 2016, the European Football for Development Network is working in collaboration with 13 clubs from all across Europe on developing a methodology, which provides people of 55 years and older with the opportunity to improve their health in an encompassing way. Walking Football & Sports proves to provide participants with exactly these physically, mentally and social well being benefits.
The Walking Football & Walking Sports methodology that was implemented within the European Legends Programme, offers a valuable approach regarding ageing healthily due to its rich possibilities to engage regularly in physical activity and to engage socially.
In order to optimise the opportunities for good health for people of 55 years and older and target groups with particular health conditions, the EFDN Walking Football Conference provides the attendees with in-depth information regarding the Walking Football & Sport methodology and its opportunities.
Best practice, Practitioners Guide & Workshops
At the conference key figures that are involved in the EFDN European Legends Walking Football programme and representatives of European Football Clubs, Leagues and Football Associations will be present, delivering presentations that will widen perspectives of Walking Football & Sports, including the adaptation of the methodology for target groups with particular health conditions. Additionally, workshops will be offered for clubs that are new to the beautiful sport and would like to implement the programme in their local community.
Among others, talks will be facilitated by representative of SL Benfica, Fulham FC, VfL Wolfsburg, Tottenham Hotspur and Aberdeen FC.
